Potable Lining Terms & Conditions

The epoxy lining process was developed to minimise the need to expose and replace water supply lines. The process reduces the cost for resultant repairs and reduces the time needed to perform the repairs.

In order for any line to benefit from the epoxy lining process, we need to pump air at high volume (not high pressure) through the water reticulation system. The lines also need to be heated to between 50 and 60 degrees Celsius. A continuous flow of warm air through the pipe system needs to be maintained.

It is important to note that certain restrictions (see below) will only become evident once the system is broken down and air pumped through the lines as the majority of plumbing pipes are concealed and can’t be inspected visually.

The following may have an impact during the lining process.

  • Restrictions in line diameter due to defective pipe fittings or unconventional plumbing installations. Unconventional plumbing is any installation that does not comply to National building regulations.
  • Pipes may have been damaged (flattened) causing flow restrictions.
  • Any decrease in diameter where structural inserts were used in conjunction with composite pipe.
  • Excessive changes in direction.
  • Too many lines branching off from a single supply line of the same diameter.
  • Pipe diameter decreasing and increasing on a straight line.
  • Concealed valves fitted to the plumbing system.
  • Mixer taps having outlets with diameters less than 8mm.
  • Concealed flexible braided pipes used in areas intended for hard copper or composite pipes.
  • External and internal corrosion to any pipe that may not withstand the drying and cleaning process.
  • Any line where copper tubing transfers to composite pipe and the pipe diameter reduces (If we are made aware of these, it reduces the risk of any potential blockages.
  • Should any section of pipe have pinholes larger than 2mm the section of pipe may need to be replaced prior to lining. Pre or post cleaning of the lines. (2mm is a very large hole in plumbing terms and the chances are that you repaired this “burst section” of pipe already.)
  • Adverse cold weather conditions may demand longer heating times for the pipes to heat up to the required temperature adding to the time needed on site.

The above items may result in the affected areas having to be exposed and sectional repairs or alterations performed in order to enable the lining process to proceed.
Pinholes larger than 2mm may require additional epoxy lining and a second coat may need to be applied should the line fail a pressure test.

In extreme cases the line may block due to air restrictions or unconventional plumbing not detected prior to lining. The line may need to be exposed and / or replaced.
Any of the above may result in additional time needed on site to complete the works.

The additional plumbing works needed to enable the lining process to proceed may incur additional labour and material charges.

Leakfind employs a permanent staff of plasterers, painters, tillers and carpenters that can tend to the resultant repairs if needed. A quotation for the repairs will be submitted separately to the agreed lining quotation.

The majority of lining projects are performed due to clients experiencing a loss of water. Loss of water goes hand in hand with loss of pressure. Once the water supply lines are lined making use of the Nu Flow epoxy method the leaks are stemmed and the pressure in the closed plumbing reticulation system returns to optimum operating pressures. Due to the loss of pressure prior to lining certain maintenance related plumbing issues may have gone unnoticed. Tap washer can start to drip, toilet ball valves may allow water to pass into the toilet bowl, tap stems may leak at the gland nuts and array of maintenance items could become evident.

It is important to note that epoxy is not applied to taps, toilet flushing mechanisms or any plumbing item disconnected from the main supply lines. Certain washers and cartridges may start to leak due to the time the water supply was interrupted and these items may have dried out and become hard requiring them to be replaced.

Should any maintenance plumbing need to be done, Labour and  materials consumed will be invoice in addition to the lining quotation.

Should spare parts not be immediately obtainable from the plumbing suppliers used by Leakfind (On-Tap & Plumblink), the parts may need to be ordered.

If parts are no longer obtainable from either of the two aforementioned suppliers, total replacement of the units the parts are intended for may need to be considered. It remains the client’s responsibility to assist with a choice of replacement.

Preparation by the client:

The water supply to the lines being lined will be turned off for the duration of the project. Should parts of the property not be lined, we will leave the water supply on to this section providing the supplies to the separate sections can be isolated separately  without extensive plumbing alterations.

It remains the client’s responsibility to ensure all vanity units, sink cupboards and any storage spaces where the air hoses are connected to the plumbing system are cleared out.

All loose items ( towels, ornaments etc ) to be removed from the bathrooms. Kitchen sink cupboards and laundry rooms to be emptied of free standing items too.

Leakfind will provide floor and wall protection where needed. Due to trip and slip hazards we opt not to cover all areas where works are to be undertaken. Should you require additional floor protection to be applied kindly inform us prior to the starting date of the project. (additional charges may apply).

The lining process is carried out by a small trained team (2 to 4 technicians per team).

We require two parking areas as close as possible to the property (one truck/van and one compressor). Please note the compressor does generate a certain level of noise together with the equipment needed to purify the air used in the lining process. We will endeavour in all circumstances to keep such noise to a reasonable level taking into regard the nature of the work to be undertaken.

We assume all permissions were obtained and granted if needed from any Body Corporate or Housing Association to perform the quoted works and gain access to the property.
Normal working hours of 09:00am till 18:00pm applies.

Quotations are compiled from information gathered at the time of the site inspection.

Should any plumbing lines form part of the closed plumbing systems not included in the quotation but form part of the system that will be lined, the standard cost to line these extra lines will be added to the final invoice, subsequent to obtaining the client’s necessary approval.

The completion date might be extended to allow for the extra works.

Leakfind warrants every new or reconditioned part installed during any repair or maintenance work, and the labour required installing it, for a period of three months after date of installation or such longer period as the original manufacturer may specify in writing.

The warranty will be void if the client has subject the part, or the goods or the property in which it was installed, to misuse and abuse and if the part or goods was worked on/opened or covered over by someone else other than Leakfind.

The warranty will be void if the client has failed to use repaired goods in accordance with the instructions and specifications of Leakfind.

The warranty does not apply to ordinary wear and tear, having regard to the circumstances in which the goods are intended to ordinary be used.

Quotations  are valid for 30 days and subject to a 60% deposit.

A cancelation fee of 50% of the total contract value will be charged for any cancelation made within 5 calendar days of the work commencement.

The balance to be settled within 24 hours of final invoice. Any work in addition to the pipe lining works will be quoted for separately and invoiced separately.
Leakfind reserves the right to recover interest costs incurred as a result of late payment.

Should the works be stopped for any reason outside the control of Leakfind, all works completed to date will be invoices and any outstanding funds be settled by the client prior to further work commencement.

All bookings will be confirmed on receipt of proof payment.

Structural Lining Terms & Conditions

Structural pipe relining will take the shape of the inside diameter of the pipe. If a pipe has scale build up, anomalies, blockages or debris which are not thoroughly cleaned prior to lining, our lining will line over these areas and create bulges and reduce the internal diameter of the pipe more than desired. It is therefore imperative that the pipe is cleaned prior to relining, which will be a line item in the quote and explained prior to acceptance of the quote.

Leakfind prefer to do our own pipe diagnostics prior to quoting on pipe relining. Our technicians are trained to look for specific problems and variables in the pipe line. In the event that the client insists on Leakfind conducting a relining quote based on another companies footage we cannot be held responsible for any incorrect measurements or any other site related issues due to our team not performing the pre site inspection and CCTV – additional costs might apply in the case of the above.

The structural pipe lining process was developed to minimise the need to expose and replace pipe lines. The process reduces the cost for resultant repairs and reduces the time needed to perform the repairs.

In order for any line to benefit from the lining process, we need to clean the lines, should further damages occur during the cleaning process, Leakfind shall not be held liable as the lines are assumed fit for cleaning and surveying unless otherwise stated prior to the cleaning works being undertaken. – Please note the quotes are based on Leakfind using the clients water supply where needed for the cleaning and preparation processes. – In the event that the client does not wish Leakfind to use their water supply notice must be given to Leakfind at least 5 working days prior to the project start date and we will issue you with an additional costing for tank and water set up requirements for the duration of the project.

It is important to note that certain restrictions (see below) will only become evident once lining commences as the majority of plumbing pipes are concealed and can’t be inspected visually.
Due to the product being installed in a uncontrolled environment, there are risks.

The liner could collapse during the installation process due to unforeseen circumstances out of our control and may need to be removed and the process repeated or abandoned.
There are unfortunately no control measures to pre-empt such events.

Leakfind will attempt to remove the liner at no additional cost. Should the liner not be retrievable, the line may need to be exposed or made redundant whereby a bypass may need to be installed. – costs may apply.

No charges to be levied against Leakfind due to the failures during installation.

Should any of Leak Find’s equipment get stuck or trapped in any of the services, Leak Find will be allowed to do the necessary excavations in order to retrieve our equipment. Leak Find will not be liable for repair costs during or after the retrieval process.

Leak Find assumes that all services are installed to National Building Standard Regulations. Should the installation be non-compliant, the risk factor may be greater than normal and at the discretion of Leakfind may the quotation be adjusted. No work will be carried out without the consent of the client.

The additional plumbing works needed to enable the lining process to proceed may incur additional labour and material charges.
